·         Monday:
o    Opening: Ethos, Pathos, Logos (Matching Activity)
o    Work Session -  
§  Instruction (I do): Teacher will review Claim, Thesis Statement, Counterclaim by using the example: “Teachers should not be allowed to carry weapons in schools”
§  Guided Practice (We do): We will reading both “Why College Isn’t for Everyone” and “Actually, College is Very Much Worth It” (Springboard book)
§  Independent Practice (You do): Students will complete #1-7 on page 88 & 89 in the Springboard books. 
o    Closing: Review Second Read questions as a whole class. Students should check their answers during the review for accuracy.

·         Tuesday:
o   Opening: Independent Reading
o    Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do):  Teacher will review an Argumentative Essay Template.
§  Guided Practice (We do):
§  Independent Practice (You do):
a. Using the articles from yesterday, students will decide on a claim to base their Argumentative Essay: Is a college degree is necessary in today’s society?
b. Students will start completing their Argumentative Essay Template
o   Closing: THINK, PAIR, SHARE – Students will check their template with a partner

·         Wednesday:
o    Opening: Discuss the important of the SRI (Comparing their 1st score to this one)
o    Work Session -  SRI TESTING – Media Center 

·         Thursday:
o   Opening: Independent Reading
o    Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do):
a. Teacher will teach the R.A.C.E. Strategy
b. Teacher will review MLA Format (Spacing, Font, Headings, etc.)
§  Guided Practice (We do): Students will practice R.A.C.E. Strategy on a short constructed response.
§  Independent Practice (You do):  Students will begin writing their Rough Drafts for their Argumentative Essays.
o   Closing: Ticket out the Door – SRI Results

·         Friday:
o   Opening: Independent Reading
o    Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do): Teacher will explain the importance of Peer Editing,
§  Guided Practice (We do): Teacher will walk around and check progress on rough drafts; every student should be completed today in class.
§  Independent Practice (You do):
a. Students will first complete rough drafts.
b. Students must then Peer Edit ONE person’s rough draft (Graded assignment)
b. Students will began typing their Argumentative Essay (MLA Format)
Closing: Students must turn in their Peer Edit forms (Ticket out the Door)
