How will the students learn?
Detail of activities / strategies used to engaged students:
·       Monday:
o   Warm Up: Review expectations for Argumentative Essay
o   Opening:  Collect: Template, Rough Draft, Peer Edit Form & Final Essay
o   Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do): Teacher will introduce unfamiliar Springboard words.
§  Guided Practice (We do): Cornell Notes (Springboard Vocabulary)
§  Independent Practice (You do):  Reading Inventory (laptops)
o   Closing:  Whole class review on the matching activity.
·       Tuesday:
o   Warm Up: Review Springboard vocabulary matching activity.
o   Opening:  EOC Prep
o   Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do): Review presentation rubric
§  Guided Practice (We do): Students will come up with a list of Do’s & Don’t’s for presenting. (Students will write down things you should/shouldn’t do while presenting and while listening to presentations)
§  Independent Practice (You do): Students will present their argumentative essays (speech).
o   Closing: Students will share one Glow & one Grow for one person in the class in regard to their presentations.
·       Wednesday: (Only 3rd & 4th periods)
o   Warm Up: Common Assessment #5
o   Opening:  EOC Prep
o   Work Session -
§  Independent Practice (You do): Finish presenting speeches (Argumentative Essays)
o   Closing:  Students will share one Glow & one Grow for one person in the class in regard to their presentations.
·       Thursday: (Only 1st & 2nd periods)
o   Warm Up: Common Assessment #5
o   Opening:  EOC Prep
o   Work Session -
§  Independent Practice (You do): Finish presenting speeches (Argumentative Essays)
o   Closing:  Students will share one Glow & one Grow for one person in the class in regard to their presentations.
·       Friday:
o   Warm Up: Sustained Silent Reading
o   Opening:  EOC Prep
o   Work Session -
§  Instruction (I do): Teacher will begin introducing cinematic techniques.
§  Guided Practice (We do): 
1. As a class on the board, I will draw a large Venn diagram with “Film” in one circle and “Text” in the other. The middle overlapping section will be labeled “Similarities.” Above the “Text” circle write “Literary Techniques,” and above the “Film” circle write “Cinematic Techniques.”
2. Brainstorm elements shared by short stories, novels, and filmed stories
§  Independent Practice (You do): Students will complete activity 2.11 in their Springboard books (pg. 148 – 149)
o   Closing:  Review Activity 2.11 together as a class.
